Manager Course at Dialoge

JuliaDecember 6, 2021Reading time:2 min.

Learning and developing new language skills through targeted training not only consolidates self-confidence, it also provides access to new areas of work and responsibility.

Concerning this topic, we interviewed one of our manager course participants.

Hello Petr, how are you?
Hello Christina! I am fine. Ready for yet another busy day.

To give our readers a better picture of you, please introduce yourself briefly. Where are you from? How old are you? And what do you do for a living?
I am from Czech Republic, from Pilsen, which is a beautiful city in the western part of the country. I am 24 years old and I work as a project manager in the field of energy and infrastructure for the company Omexon.

Thank you for your introduction. Can you tell us why you decided to come to Dialoge in Lindau and participate in our manager course?
I already came to Lindau during the summer of 2018 and participated in the language course at Dialoge. After 6 weeks, I got a B1+ certificate – which is a good foundation of German knowledge. I got to know the good standard, capable teachers and helpful attitude of Dialoge. This is the reason why I am sitting here today.

Part of your program also included two company visits to Stadtwerke Lindau and Stadtwerke Konstanz. Could you briefly tell our readers something about them?
Both company visits were very interesting. I’ll just describe the benefits:
1) Two company visits to companies in the area in which I work.
2) Visiting several sites of critical infrastructures
3) The detailed description of all technical and commercial aspects
4) The very personal approach and acquisition of new contacts
5) Of course the good exercise to improve the German language in general

Can you tell us a bit more about the academic content of the program?
Yes, but maybe it is not so interesting for the readers. I start with German in the morning and end the day with German. Haha. In addition, I get homework and have to do some things for my work in the Czech Republic or Germany. But that doesn’t matter. I am here mainly for improving my German. Unfortunately, COVID is also present here, but the weather in November (now December) is nice, so all good. Last time in summer 2018, there was a very social and fun life here.

You had quite a bit to do there. Which part did you personally find the most helpful?
I can’t really say. For example, grammar – I don’t enjoy it that much – I’m not that good at it – I quite often use bad grammar, but that’s my biggest weakness that I need to improve. I enjoy the presentations and job related topics because I love my job. Vocabulary is also an important part. Overall, all the parts were very helpful.

Can you tell our readers and interested parties something else about Lindau?
Lindau is a beautiful city, with the beautiful Lake Constance, great people, a pleasant atmosphere and with good opportunities to gain new experiences or do sports.

Would you recommend our manager course?
Of course, it is a good opportunity to improve your German.

Petr, that’s it for our interview. Thank you for taking the time to answer all our questions for our readers.
We wish you all the best and look forward to hearing from you again soon.
